The accuracy of rack gears directly affects the quality of gear meshing. At the international standards level, China issued GB/Z 10096-2022 “Rack Gear Accuracy” in 2022, a guiding technical document that applies to racks with a normal module ranging from 1 mm to 40 mm and a working tooth width not exceeding 630 mm. This document specifies accuracy grades, tolerance values, and measurement criteria. Notably, the JIS standard does not explicitly define rack gear accuracy grades; consequently, some manufacturers, such as KHK, rely on their own internal standards—e.g., KHK R001 grades 1 through 5—for quality control.

Splicing technology : Rack bars can be joined to achieve any desired length. During installation, the gap between two rack bars must be precisely adjusted to match the pitch; alignment is typically accomplished using a backlash gauge.

Installation Precautions : Before startup, ensure that the gears are properly installed to prevent backlash-free operation and that gear contact is evenly distributed without bias toward one side. The mounting surfaces must be flat, the reference surfaces parallel, and locating pins must be used for secure fastening. For exposed gear–rack mechanisms, it is recommended to install protective guards to ensure safety.
