Gear Accuracy Standards and Assembly Technical Requirements
Gear accuracy directly affects transmission quality, noise levels, and service life. A series of international and national standards have been established to regulate gear accuracy. For example, GB/T 10095 “The Precision System for Cylindrical Gears” sets forth requirements for tooth surface deviation, radial composite deviation, and other parameters. It is worth noting that, GB/T 2363-2025 “Accuracy of Small-Module Involute Cylindrical Gears” This standard was published in August 2025 and will come into formal effect on March 1, 2026, specifying dedicated accuracy requirements for small-module gears. In addition, industry-specific group standards tailored to particular application scenarios are continuously being refined; for example, the series of standards titled “Methods for Vibration Response Analysis of Multi-Branch Shaft Gear Transmission Systems,” published in 2025, provide guidance for the vibration and lubrication analysis of gear transmission systems.
Assembly is a critical step in ensuring gear performance. For large-scale equipment, such as mills, the assembly requirements are even more stringent: radial and end-face runout of large gears must comply with specified limits; the contact pattern on the tooth flanks must meet certain criteria (e.g., at least 40% along the tooth height and at least 50% along the tooth length); and the side clearance must be calculated and adjusted according to a prescribed formula to ensure adequate lubrication and prevent jamming.
